Colt 1860 Army Steel .44 six-shot percussion black powder revolver by Samuel Colt in .44 caliber. Military version with an 8-inch barrel – used by the Union army during the Civil War. Muzzle-loaded with a steel frame and an engraved cylinder – a scene depicting the victory of the II Texas Navy in the Battle of Campeche in 1843.
The revolver has a milling at the bottom of the grip allowing for the attachment of an optional fixed wooden stock – ASS44 (Army Shoulder Stock). The stock transforms the revolver into a short, handy rifle.
Construction – fire-hardened steel frame (open top), steel grip fitting. Barrel and cylinder blued in black. Grip scales made of walnut wood. Round barrel with an 8" length, twist rate 1-30".
Trigger – trigger guard (bow) made of polished brass. The trigger cocking mechanism allows for two positions: half-cocked for placing percussion caps on the nipples, and fully cocked for firing.
Loading lever – hinged (ramrod) fire-hardened, located under the revolver barrel, designed to press lead balls into the cylinder chambers. The loading lever expands towards the rear, giving the weapon a more streamlined shape and preventing it from catching on the holster edge.
Cylinder – steel with an engraved naval battle scene.

1F or FG - powder with the largest grains, used for large caliber weapons or cannon replicas.
2F or FFG - for use in pistols of .45 caliber or larger.
3F or FFFG - the most common variety of powder, used for revolvers and shotguns in calibers up to .45.
4F or FFFFG - the finest granulation, used in pistols of .31 caliber or smaller.
